Abdalla AlMajali’s Venture Building Journey with QuantumGate

Abdalla AlMajali has always been drawn to the space where technology meets transformation and where complex research evolves into tools that change how businesses work.

That’s exactly what he does today as a Senior Manager in the venture building team at VentureOne. In 2024, he led the launch of QuantumGate, a cybersecurity venture focused on protecting organizations from the risks posed by quantum computers. His launch journey, he says, combines a unique blend of vision, strategic thinking and collaboration, and he’s loved every step of it.

“What makes venture building so compelling is the variety,” AlMajali says. “One day you’re deep in market analysis and feasibility studies, and the next, you’re pitching an idea or onboarding new talent to lead specific functions.”

His job as a venture builder is all about turning research into real businesses. That means figuring out if a piece of research is commercially viable, defining the product, building the business plan, setting up the company, hiring the first team members, and getting the first customers through the door.

“For me,” he says, “there’s real joy in watching something go from an idea on paper to a company out in the world.”

Born and raised in Jordan, AlMajali was always drawn to technical subjects at school. That early interest led him to study mechanical engineering in the U.K. But during an internship at a vehicle company, he quickly realized the pace of traditional engineering wasn’t for him.

“People were spending days designing the nuts and bolts that fit on a van,” he says. “After that internship, I decided I wanted to do something a little bit more dynamic.”

Hungry for a faster tempo and greater impact, AlMajali quickly shifted gears.

Since he also had a degree in business finance, his instinct led him to strategic consulting with Simon-Kucher & Partners in Dubai, which sharpened his analytical and strategic toolkit. He later moved into the world of cryptocurrency startups and venture capital, where he found the pace and innovation he’d been looking for.

When he heard about VentureOne, it felt like the perfect next step. His experience in startups, tech, and consulting made him a natural fit for venture building: he had already honed the essential skills of market research, strategic planning, product development, and tactical execution.

He joined in 2024, and QuantumGate was his first major project. It resonated with him immediately.

It was born out of work by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), where researchers had developed UAE national cryptographic libraries to counter quantum threats. The UAE’s new regulations on cryptography created a clear opportunity to help governments and businesses upgrade their cybersecurity systems to protect against quantum computers.

“Our goal was to take that research and build something organizations needed, says AlMajali.

QuantumGate’s products do just that. One of them, QSphere Data Security, helps organizations secure their sensitive data against both current and future threats. Another, Crypto Discovery, gives companies a clear picture of all the cryptographic systems they’re using, essentially helping them figure out where they’re vulnerable and what they need to fix.

“Educating the market was a big part of what we had to do in the beginning,” AlMajali says. “We spent a lot of time showing people why this matters now. Not 10 years from now.”

Soon, interest expanded beyond the UAE, validating the firm’s vision on a global scale. For example, QuantumGate won an award at the Entrepreneur Middle East ceremony for the category: «best cybersecurity solution» and participated in the RSA Conference in 2025 in San Francisco less than a year after officially launching.

AlMajali is quick to point that team dynamics played a defining role in QuantumGate’s journey so far. When the right people came on board, like the Venture’s Chief Technology Officer or Director of Business Development, the impact was immediate. AlMajali no longer had to juggle every part of the business himself, allowing him to focus strategically on broader challenges and opportunities.

“Watching the team evolve and seeing talented individuals assume leadership roles has been incredibly rewarding and has allowed me to focus on the bigger picture,” he says.

Looking ahead, AlMajali is optimistic, not just about what’s next for QuantumGate, but also about the other ventures still to be built.

“There’s still a lot to do,” he says. “But seeing how far we’ve come makes it all worth it, and knowing the UAE is serious about tech and innovation makes it an exciting place to keep building."
