Triparty Agreement inked at World Governments Summit 2024 to enable Advanced AI Solutions for Enhanced Patient Care, Sophisticated Healthcare Experiences, and Optimized Health Outcomes

 

Dubai-United Arab Emirates: 14 February 2024 – The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and Emirates Health Services (EHS) have entered into a strategic partnership with AI71, a frontrunner in artificial intelligence, which was established by Abu Dhabi's Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and VentureOne.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by HE Dr Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of MoHAP, HE Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director General of the Emirates Health Services (EHS), and HE Shahab Issa Abu Shahab, Director General of ATRC on Day 3 at the World Government Summit (WGS) 2024, signifying the start of a new chapter in the evolution of healthcare in the UAE, with the introduction of cutting-edge AI-driven innovations.

The partnership will see the integration of transformative AI technology via AI71’s medical large language model (LLM), RAZI71 into the healthcare infrastructure of the UAE. Powered by Falcon LLM, the UAE’s home-grown series of open-source AI models, RAZI71 is designed to transform healthcare delivery, offering advanced care solutions that aim to enhance patient outcomes while bolstering the capabilities of healthcare professionals.

The agreement marks a significant leap forward in further enhancing and expanding the capabilities within the UAE's healthcare infrastructure. It underscores a commitment to advancing proactive health management strategies, integrating advanced analytics, refining clinical decision support systems, and enhancing patient monitoring. The aim is to significantly enhance patient care and the overall healthcare delivery system, with a particular focus on the impactful application of AI solutions.

HE Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, said: "The signing of the MoU with AI71, aligns with the Ministry's commitment to advancing the use of generative artificial intelligence as a sustainable approach in the evolution of future healthcare and health data management. It also supports proactive health management, integrates advanced analytics, improves decision support systems, and facilitates comprehensive healthcare. This initiative is in line with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, aimed at solidifying the nation's position and leadership in artificial intelligence and fostering a knowledge-based economy."

Dr. Al Olama emphasized the significance of signing this MoU during the World Government Summit, recognizing it as a pivotal global platform for shaping a more sustainable future. He commended AI71 for championing decentralized data control for both public and private sectors worldwide, and affirmed the collaboration as a qualitative leap, enhancing the utilization of advanced infrastructure in the UAE and propelling its journey towards global leadership.

HE Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Director General of EHS emphasized that this step is an important milestone in the EHS’ journey towards developing healthcare in the UAE by continuing to enhance the role of innovation and advanced technology and anticipating its future paths that aim to achieve the strategic goals in line with the government’s direction and the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, and harnessing advanced scientific capabilities, including generative artificial intelligence, to improve the quality of healthcare services and provide superior care to patients.

Dr. Al-Serkal also pointed out that this memorandum reflects EHS’ futuristic vision to enhance the sustainability of the healthcare sector in the UAE, and confirms that the EHS attaches great importance to innovation by employing advanced digital infrastructure to implement programs and projects aimed at anticipating the future of healthcare, and contributing to the realization of "We the UAE 2031” Vision, and the objectives of the UAE Centennial 2071 plan.

Speaking on this transformative partnership, Director General of ATRC, HE Shahab Issa Abu Shahab said: “This collaboration symbolizes a pivotal juncture in our collective pursuit of a future distinguished by the transformative impact of AI on our healthcare systems. We are committed to revolutionizing healthcare with innovative AI solutions, driving unparalleled efficiency and patient-centered care.”
